Our Remote Sensing Equipment
Network Mapping operates a policy of continual investment with our aerial acquisition and processing equipment to ensure that we are leaders in quality and technical capability.
LiDAR Equipment
We own and operate various Optech ALTM LiDAR sensors ranging in pulse repetition frequency from 50 kHz to 200 kHz. All our systems are easily installed in fixed-wing aircraft and have custom built mounts for use on helicopter platforms.
ALTM C200 - The Orion
is Optech’s latest innovation in scanner technology (www.optech.ca/orion). This scanner is the smallest system on the market yet is capable of producing extremely high quality data. With 200 kHz sampling capability we can capture more detailed data than ever before.

ALTM 3100 – With a 100 kHz sampling c
apacity enabling it to achieve high levels o
f detail on our corridor surveying operations. The 3100 can obtain up to 4 returns per pulse making it the ideal choice when foliage
penetration is required.
Imaging Equipment
We deploy a range of photographic sensors that acquire both downward and forward looking imagery. Downward looking imagery is orthorectified to give it the geometric properties of a map. We are able to provide orthorectified imagery fully integrated with our LiDAR products or as a standalone service.
DiMAC Camera – This state-of-the-art camera weighs only 15kg and is capable of taking up to 60 megapixel images. With full frame CCD a 70mm lens and Forward Motion Compensation (FMC) this powerful camera complements our high-performance laser scanners.
Ground Control
Network Mapping has a dedicated team of ground survey personnel that establish ground base stations and ground truthing sites for each flight.
In-flight Weather Data
In addition to the collection of weather data from ground base stations, we are also able to acquire weather data in-flight. This is particularly useful for the electricity transmission industry, where the conductor temperature at the time of flight can be calculated from line load data, ground base station weather data, and in-flight weather data.
