Thermal up-rating Studies

Network Mapping offers engineering support for thermal up-rating studies. Our overhead line engineers have greater than 10 years experience of using aerial LiDAR data for this purpose. LiDAR data captured in the survey is used to produce a 3D engineering model.

Reconductoring and loading analyses

We are able to conduct simulated conductor replacements and determine any strain on tower members that may result from the increased stress. Bracing can then be designed for structural support.

1. From the survey data the transmission line is modelled and studied for a number of loading scenarios and conductor options.

2. Structural analysis routines calculate the loadings for each loading scenario and conductor option.

3. The routines identify failing steelwork members and calculate revised foundation loads. A replacement schedule can be determined to meet the revised loadings from the replacement conductor.
